Chaddesden Park Planting Event - 28th March POSTPONED due to Covid-19Date: 28 March 2020
UPDATE: Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, we are postponing all planting events until the autumn. Wishing everyone a healthy and peaceful spring and summer,
The Trees for Derby Team
Come down to Chaddesden Park for our last planting event of the season!
We’re ending the planting season with our biggest planting event to date. With the help of Derby Parks we will be planting 2,000 young trees (whips) as well as an avenue of approximately 14 larger trees (standards) though these will be planted by the council with the help of heavy plant equipment.
Thanks to a generous donation from one of Derby’s local businesses, Alten, and the support of Derby City Council we will be able to plant and secure the ongoing maintenance of the avenue for future generations.
We’re calling on all local residents to bring along your friends and family, we’ll provide the trees, tools and biscuits (though you’re welcome to bring along your trusty garden spade to guarantee yourself a piece of the action). Start time is 10am, a couple of carparking options are highlighted on the image below though there are plenty more as well as cycle and bus routes to get you there! We will be planting in the locations indicated below though you’ll likely spot the banners of Derby Parks and Trees for Derby standing proud from afar. Refreshments will be available at the Cricket Pavillion, also marked on the map, which will be generously provided by the Friends of Chaddesden Park. All planting should be complete by lunchtime though this is dependent on how many of you we get to help.
