Read all about our first tree planting event, with 1,000
trees planted in less than 2 hours. A great success and fantastic turn out from
the local community on what was a very grey drizzly morning. Thank you to everyone
that made it down, Derby Parks and David for writing about it.
With the election around the corner all of the parties seem to be trying to outdo each other when it comes to tree planting pledges. Let’s hope the next government can stick to their targets!! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/50591261
A think tank has proposed a new ‘Forest of Britain’, to connect
Land’s End to John O’Groats in a 2-mile-wide belt of woodland, as a lasting
monument to mark the Queen’s platinum jubilee in 2022. We think this is a great
idea, lets make sure it goes through Derbyshire.
Our local water suppliers, Severn Trent Water, are jumping
on the tree planting bandwagon. Aiming to plant 1.3 million native trees species
over the next five years to back the ‘Big Climate Fightback’.
As part of the ‘Big Climate Fightback’ on 30th
November more than 10,000 trees were planting at Mead in Derbyshire, at the
site of the new Young People’s Forest.
